UD football falters in 2015 opener

The First State college football season kicked-off Friday night with the University of Delaware falling in its 2015 opener.

The Blue Hens lost to Jacksonville 20-14 at Delaware Stadium.

The Hens’ two new quarterbacks struggled. Junior Blake Rankin and redshirt freshman Joe Walker – each seeing their first collegiate action – combined to complete 10 of 20 passes for just 134 yards.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville Q-B Kade Bell threw for 269 yards and a TD.

The 0-1 Blue Hens try again next week at home, welcoming Lafayette to Newark.
