UD hosting elite classical music players

Xiang Gao, Masters Players Festival Director

Some of the country’s most promising classical music players are currently in Newark.

The elite young musicians, along with top students from China, have convened at the University of Delaware for the Masters Players Festival.

The students are working with an all-star professional faculty in master classes and music coaching sessions.

Masters Players Festival Director XiangGao, says the festival format will help UD attract top music students.

“Usually during a recruitment event it's an audition of five or ten minutes, you say, thank you for coming, we’d love to have you come here. There’s not enough interaction. That’s why these summer music festivals are fabulous for this particular purpose.”

Additionally, a series of public concerts will be presented by visiting faculty artists which includes leading members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the China Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music, among others.

You can view the concert schedule at their website.

This piece is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
