VP Biden gains support in latest Iowa poll

Despite not officially running for president at this time, Vice President Joe Biden made a relatively strong showing in the most recent poll for the Iowa caucus.

Delaware’s most well known politician is 14 percent of Iowans’ first choice for president according to the latest Des Moines Register and Bloomberg Politics poll.

Biden would have to catch up to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who still leads with 37 percent of caucus goers favoring her. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is close behind at 30 percent.

Biden also claims the most support as voters’ second choice according to the poll at 24 percent.

It’s still a strong showing for a man who hasn’t even announced his campaign, telling Democratic National Committee members last week he doesn’t know if he has the “emotional fuel” to run, according to CNN.

Biden made a surprise visit to the Sussex County Democratic Jamboree over the weekend to thank those who supported him after his son, Attorney General Beau Biden died in May of brain cancer, but said he wasn’t commenting on a potential third presidential bid.
