Wesley College football wins opening round NCAA tourney game

Wesley College’s football team is moving on in the NCAA Division III tournament.

The Wolverines, ranked 13th in the nation, pulled away late in a 45-27 first round win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Saturday in Dover.

Wesley trailed 27-24 in the third quarter, then rattled off 21 unanswered points to post its 13th straight opening round NCAA playoff victory.

The 10-1 Wolverines were led by wide receiver Alex Kemp, who caught 11 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.  He also rushed for 90 yards and one score.

Wesley will visit Brockport for a second round game this Saturday at noon.

Brockport won its first round game easily, trouncing Plymouth State 66-nothing.
