Wesley College tangles with Brockport in NCAA football playoffs

Wesley College’s football team tries to take another step in NCAA tournament this weekend.

The Wolverines are on the road for the second round of Division III playoffs, visiting Brockport in Western New York Saturday.

On paper, it’s a great match-up.  Wesley is 10-1 and ranked 13th nationally.  The Golden Eagles are undefeated and ranked 10th.

The teams also look very similar statistically.

Wesley is scoring 35 points per game and allowing only 11 while Brockport puts up nearly 40 points per contest and allows just under 11.

The two were rivals in the Atlantic Central Football Conference during the early 2000s, splitting their 6 meetings during that time, but haven’t faced off in 10 years.

Kick-off is at noon.  A win would send Wesley to the NCAA Div. III Quarterfinals for the 7th time in 8 years – and a date with the winner of Saturday’s Delaware Valley-Husson match-up.
