Delaware Women’s Infants and Children’s healthcare office has moved its Georgetown location from the Thurman Adams State Service Center to the La Red Health Center. The Ribbon cutting ceremony took place Thursday.

The WIC program serves women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum, as well as children and infants less than 5 years old.

Director of Delaware Public Health Dr. Karyl Rattay says the move to La Red Health Center will make WIC offices more accessible for its two thousand monthly clients—many of whom already receive care from La Red’s other services.

“It’s on a bus line. Additionally, La Red Health center helps to provide transportation for people who are not able to get transportation to get to the health center,” said Rattay.

The La Red Health Center is also close to grocery stores participating in WIC’s program providing nutritious foods and supplemental formula at no cost to enrolled clients.

The move has taken place over last month, and WIC is already open and providing care in its new location.

“It’s just really a state of the art clinic. A very friendly, warm environment, and the space they have provided for the WIC clients is just very nice,” said Rattay.
