Wilmington Ballet Nutcracker kicks off with special guests

Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell will grace the stage for The Wilmington Ballet Academy of Dance's 50th production of The Nutcracker.

Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell are lacing up their dancing shoes for a single performance of the iconic ballet.

"They are going to be dancers in the party scene of our Nutcracker. It’s the opening scene of the ballet," said Wilmington Ballet Executive Director of Marketing Tara Agne. 

"He will be wearing a period suit and she will be wearing a long, flowing period dress. And they will be doing ballroom dancing."

There are also performances Saturday night at 7 and Sunday December 4.

 
The Nutcracker features dancers from the New York City Ballet and local Delaware Dancers.
