A position that’s been vacant for four months in the Town of Dewey Beach could soon be filled.

The town is closing in on hiring its new town manager.

The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and Dewey Beach are trying to reduce flooding in the town and clean up pollution in Rehoboth Bay by addressing stormwater runoff.

Last weekend’s full moon brought hundreds to thousands of spawning horseshoe crabs to some Delaware beaches. 


The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays reported there were more than 1,700 horseshoe crabs seen spawning Friday night at Tower Road, just south of Dewey Beach.

Tons of sand are being dropped on Rehoboth and Dewey Beach to help them withstand storm damage.

Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are pumping a million pounds of sand from the ocean floor onto the beaches over the next few weeks.

Car crash, fire destroys Dewey Beach restaurant

A car crash caused a Dewey Beach restaurant to be engulfed in flames early Tuesday morning.


Warren Jones with the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company said a car rammed into Ed’s Chicken and Crabs around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Labor Day visitors packed Delaware’s beaches this past weekend.


Rehoboth-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Carol Everhart says it was a strong weekend, though maybe not quite as profitable as in years past.
