New Castle County Council narrowly approved a FY2019 budget Tuesday.

The compromise spending plan, which features a 15 percent property tax increase effectively phased in over two years, passed by a 7-5 vote, with one council member absent.

New Castle County Council introduced last night an alternative budget proposal for next fiscal year, replacing the County Executive’s proposal that was shot down last week.

The nearly 300 million dollar 2019 spending plan sought to raise property taxes by 15 percent.
