The University of Delaware’s acting president will leave the school shortly after new president Dennis Assanis takes over this summer.

UD announced Tuesday that Nancy Targett has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of New Hampshire.   She’ll start that job September 1st.

Olympian Kimmie Meissner will be back on the ice at the University of Delaware Friday.

The 2006 world champion figure skater trained at UD's Fred Rust Ice Arena for many years and represented the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club in competition.

The school announced Monday Eric Ziady is stepping down at the end of the month after just over three years on the job.

The University of Delaware’s field hockey team’s season is over after a heartbreaking first round loss in the NCAA Division One tournament Saturday.

The 12th ranked Blue Hens fell at number 4 Virginia 4-3 in overtime at Virginia, bringing a quick end to their third straight NCAA tourney appearance.

The Cavaliers’ Riley Tata  scored two goals – including the game winner with just under 7 minutes left in OT.

The two teams were tied at 3 at halftime, then played a scoreless second half before heading to overtime.

The University of Delaware field hockey team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year.

The Blue Hens earned an automatic berth into the Division I national playoffs by capturing the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship Sunday.  UD defeated James Madison 2-1 in overtime at JMU to win CAA tournament title game.

Freshman Lisa Giezeman scored the game-winning goal with 8:59 left in OT.

October is National Cyber Security Awareness month.  That designation recognizes that now more than ever, we store tons of sensitive information -- from bank accounts to work documents ---online.  And every day, there are hackers trying to get that information. 

Technologists working around the clock to prevent that from happening, but 2014 saw a huge jump in data breaches -- about 49 percent according to a one report. And cyber criminals are rapidly becoming more sophisticated in their methods.

Three Delaware groups are getting money from the USDA as part of an effort to support farmers markets and local, sustainable agriculture around the country.


The Historic Lewes Farmers Market, University of Delaware and Delaware State University will get a share of more than $34 million in grant money from the USDA. The federal grants, announced last week, are aimed at strengthening local food systems, especially in rural areas.

More than a thousand students, faculty and staff gathered in front of Memorial Hall at the University of Delaware Wednesday to assure minority members of their community they stand with them against real and perceived racism faced on the Newark campus.
