AG Denn sues Newark landlords over fraud claims

Delaware Public Media

Two Newark landlords are facing charges that they’ve repeatedly ignored repair requests from tenants and misled their customers into signing leases.

According to the civil suit filed in Superior Court this month, the companies managing Autumn Park Delaware and Hidden Creek Commons have piled up hundreds of code violations since 2012.

Those include electrical hazards, a lack of heat and hot water access and other violations.

The suit alleges Autumn Park and Hidden Creek advertise that they cover certain utilities, access to laundry facilities and 24-hour maintenance.

Tenants have repeatedly said the companies ignored repair requests – sometimes leaving them for days without hot water.

Neither companies that own Autumn Park or Hidden Creek responded to requests for comment.
