The bands play on despite soggy Saturday at Big Barrel Music Festival

As torrential rain soaked the Woodlands, a noticeably thinner but enthusiastic crowd packed into the tented Wildwood Stage to hear country music star Loretta Lynn belt out the hits, including her signature song, "Coal Miner's Daughter."

Meanwhile, across the ankle deep mud covered lawn, fans found shelter and line dancing inside the Harvest Moon Saloon.

Plenty of Big Barrel's expected 35,000 attendees took a pass on day two of Big Barrel but those who stuck it out got a closer spot in front of the mainstage for Miranda Lambert's rain free Saturday night set.

The fans that stuck it out didn't let the wet weather dampen their enthusiasm.

Aaron Winkler of Easton, Pennsylvania was wearing a cowboy hat and black jeans which were made all the blacker after he dove headfirst into a large muddy puddle. The 25-year old Jake Owen fan is camping in the Woodlands with a group of friends.

“My girlfriend bought me tickets back in February which was my birthday and I ain’t heard about it till she told me about the fact that she bought me the tickets," he said. "I’ve been looking forward to it since then and I’m happy I’m here now, I’ll tell you that right now.”

The weather looks more promising for the final day of the Big Barrel Music Festival with a clear sky expected for Sunday's night's closing headliner, Carrie Underwood.
