Cities holding Independence Day events statewide

Events up and down the state are ringing in Independence Day, including festivals, parades and fireworks.

All three counties have Independence Day celebrations set to go if weather allows.

 

In New Castle County you can catch a parade, festival and fireworks in Hockessin near the library. Those events last all day.

 

In Newark there’s a festival from 6-10 p.m. and pyrotechnic show at the University of Delaware Athletic Complex.

 

At the Wilmington Riverfront there are activities throughout the day and a fireworks show at dusk.

 

In Kent county the City of Dover has a string of events on The Green all day, as well as a fireworks show in the evening.

 

Clayton and Milford have fireworks shows, too.

 

In Sussex County, Bethany Beach hosts an Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader contest on the boardwalk at 2 p.m., along with fireworks at dusk.

 

The City of Laurel has live music and a Little Miss Independent Pageant at 6 p.m. Fireworks will follow at Market Square Park.

 

Food vendors, live music and fireworks will be held at Cupola Park in Millsboro. Those events are 6-10 p.m.

 

The City of Lewes holds its Old Fashioned Fourth of July Festival from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
