Corporate Service Corporation (CSC) is building a new home in the First State.
CSC broke ground Tuesday on its new global headquarters just outside Wilmington.
The company – which provides legal, business and financial services for corporations around the world – employees about 950 in Delaware. CSC president and CEO Rod Ward says those employees currently work in variety of offices – a set up that will change when this 148,000 square foot facility at Route 48 and Centerville road is completed in the summer of 2017.
“Today, we are in six or seven locations throughout New Castle County and we really wanted to get everyone – or as many as possible- under one roof," said Ward. "We looked around and said where can we do that project and we said here’s an opportunity to build a wonderful building and get the majority of our Delaware people under one roof ”
Ward adds the new headquarters and campus should help CSC recruit top talent and allows room for anticipated growth and expansion.
Gov. Jack Markell (D-Delaware) expects that growth will bring good jobs to the First State, similar to many of the technology jobs JPMorgan Chase is expected to add as part of the 1,800 it announced Monday it will bring to the First State by 2019.
“When this building is finished, I think its going to bring an addition to the 900 jobs that are [currently] here. I think the anticipation is [CSC] is going to add some more. And many of these jobs are technology jobs," said Markell. "It’s one thing to have a beautiful facility. It’s another thing to have talented people working at that facility. ”
"Our business really is a service company wrapped around a technology company," said Ward. " And I really see a technology renaissance happening not only in Delaware, but in the region."
CSC currently employs about 2,200 people in 11 countries around the world.
The headquarters building will have a partial “green” roof and other sustainable features, while the surrounding campus will feature four-acre meadow and public walking trails.
"When you're building a headquarters that you want to be your global headquarters, you're going to take the time to do it right," said Ward.
