DART bus service ready for summer beach season

Delaware Transit Corporation

State and local transportation officials gathered at the Rehoboth Beach bandstand Thursday to mark the beginning of the seasonal summer DART bus service to and around Delaware’s beach communities.

DART Resort Transit operates seven routes, seven days a week through September 13 and serves Rehoboth, Dewey, Fenwick, Lewes, Georgetown, Long Neck and Ocean City, Maryland.  Delaware Transit Corporation Public Affairs Officer Julie Theyerl  says the service is a stress free way to get around.

“The buses travel all over the area with very frequent service and it really helps alleviate congestion,” she notes. “It gets people out of traffic and also people don’t have to worry about parking, finding parking spots and filling the meters.”

The resort transit costs $1.75 per trip, $3.70 for a daily pass or $8 to park at the Rehoboth Park & Ride and receive up to 4 free unlimited ride daily bus passes.

Additionally, the Route 305 – Beach Connection, begins Friday and provides service between Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach on weekends and Monday holidays through  Labor Day.  Bus stops include Wilmington’s Amtrak Station, Christiana Mall, Smyrna Rest Stop, Scarborough Road Park & Ride in Dover, Super Walmart in Milford, and the Rehoboth Park & Ride.

One-way tickets are $11.50 from Wilmington and $6.90 from Dover. Riders can also buy a 4/5-Zone pass for $19.20, which can also be used on all the Resort Transit routes, once at the Park & Ride.
