Delaware Public Media's Generation Voice

We often spend our fund drives asking you to support the news and programs you hear.  But our mission at Delaware Public Media extends beyond that – into the classroom – and we are asking you to support that too.

One of our major initiatives has been at Mount Pleasant High School in the Brandywine School District – at 91.7 WMPH.  In addition to hearing Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Marketplace and The Green on WMPH, we work with students learning the media business there as part of our Generation Voice youth media project.  And those students are producing compelling, award-winning work.

Recently, Delaware Public Media News Director Tom Byrne sat down with Brandywine School District superintendent Mark Holodick to discuss Generation Voice and its impact at Mount Pleasant High School:

And we are excited to announce an expansion of our Generation Voice youth media project.  Starting this fall, we’ll be taking it to McKean High School in the Red Clay Consolidated School District and its station 88.1 WMHS.  We’ll have more details later on when it will officially start and what it will entail. but Delaware Public Media News Director Tom Byrne recently chatted with McKean H.S. principal Brian Mattix about this new partnership.
