Delaware's unemployment rate levels off in September

Delaware’s unemployment rate held steady in September.

But U.S. job growth continues to climb faster than the First State.

Delaware’s August seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained at 4.9 in September after rising in the two previous months. But it’s up from 4.3 percent at this time last year.

The U.S. unemployment rate dropped from 4.4 percent to 4.2 percent last month.

New Castle and Kent Counties showed some gains. New Castle’s unemployment rate dropped from 5.3 percent in August to 4.7 percent in September. Kent County‘s rate fell by nearly one percent from August. County numbers are not seasonally adjusted.

Delaware’s non farm jobs have increased in the past year by more than 2,0000, a half percent growth. National job growth is 1.2 percent.
