Delaware State University will soon have more cash to put towards helping their athletes graduate on time.
The NCAA awarded DSU a three-year, $450,000 grant from its Accelerated Academic Success Program.
That money can be used towards hiring tutors, expanding space for academic purposes, technology upgrades and further summer financial aid for those students.
DSU officials didn’t respond to calls or emails seeking current student-athlete graduation rates.
In a statement, Louis Perkins, interim associate vice president and athletics director, said that the mission of the grant falls in line with the university’s goal to increase graduation and retention rates by 2020.
