The Delaware Statewide Arts Education Conference brings a number First State educators to Dover this Tuesday. But it’s not just about finding better ways to teach art.
Sheila Ross of Delaware Division of the Arts said teachers and administrators from up and down the state are also seeking to better incorporate the arts into all classrooms.
Ross said teachers are asking themselves, “How can we take the arts and mingle it with other to bring (other) subjects alive?”
The event offers educators workshops on a range of topics, including how to adapt art materials to differently abled students and how to make basic art tools more accessible in the classroom.
Gov. Jack Markell has officially designated Sept. 11-17 as Arts Education Week in Delaware.
This follows a national initiative designated by congress in 2010.
