First State gas prices drop for a third straight week

Delaware Public Media

Delaware drivers saw another break at the gas pump last week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average cost of a gallon of regular fell another 8 cents over the past seven days – from $2.30 to $2.22.

That’s the third straight week motorists have seen prices drop – and they’ve retreated 18 during that span.

Delawaregasprices.com reports a dozen stations are charging $2.12 or less – mainly in Elsmere, New Castle and Newark.

But prices are still significantly higher than a year ago at this time when the average here in the First State was just $1.76.

The national average also dropped last week – slipping three cents from $2.31 to $2.28.
