First State sees limited polling place complaints

Delaware Public Media

Questions about a rigged election were louder than usual before today’s voting, but state election officials say they’ve seen no issues of note.

Roddy Flynn, Chairman of the Election Protection Network for the Delaware Democratic party, says he’s received more than 50 complaints about voting today so far – even before the after-work rush at polling places.

That’s up from about only 30 calls throughout the day in the 2014 midterm elections. But he added the increase can most likely be attributed to higher voter turnout in this year’s election.

“Any time that you have more voters going to the polls, there’s more incidents because there’s a greater opportunity for them," Flynn said.

Flynn said most complaints prove to be inaccurate in some way, like people going to the wrong polling place but insisting it’s the right polling location.

But he noted there have been a few cases of voter intimidation in Wilmington, as well as complaints of poll workers asking for forms of ID not required by law.

Flynn said the incidents in Delaware today have been resolved quickly.
