Former State Rep. Howard Clendaniel dies

Former State Representative Howard Clendaniel died this week. Clendaniel was 85-years-old. He passed away on Monday at his Georgetown-area home.

A funeral will be held Friday for former State Rep. Howard Clendaniel, who died this week.

 

Clendaniel was 85-years-old. He passed away Monday at his Georgetown-area home.

According to his obituary, Clendaniel was a lifetime farmer and poultryman.

He served 12 years in the state House of Representatives mainly during the 1970s, including two years as the majority whip.

Clendaniel was later elected  Sussex County Register of Wills in 1995, and served in that post for 12 years.

Clendaniel was also as a board member at the Delaware Electric Co-Op, the Delaware Farm Bureau and at the Delaware Agriculture Museum.

A funeral service for Clendaniel is planned for Friday at noon at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown; visitation for family and friends starts at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Clendaniels’ family is asking that donations be made to Crossroad Community Church , 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, 19947 or McColley’s Chapel U.M. Church, 19024 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, 19947.
