New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer announced a plan to aggressively expand the county's park space.
The County plans to build new parks near Odessa, Red Lion, Newark and Edgemoore.
"We want to make sure people of all income areas and all communities have access to neighborhood parks," Meyer said.
Meyer has formed a task force to research new park locations and look at ways to enhance the county’s 247 existing parks.
"Our top parks priority is developing a park south of the canal," Meyer said.
The projects are slated to be spread out over a number of years.
