A new uptick in First State gas prices

Delaware Public Media

After a steady decline for the past few weeks, Delaware gas prices are beginning to inch up again.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in the First State climbed three cents over the last seven days to $2.21.

Despite the uptick, it’s still significantly cheaper than what drivers were paying a year ago – $3.08.

Nationwide, prices at the pump also rose by three cents, finishing the week at $2.32 a gallon.

AAA Mid-Atlantic officials say the slight increase in prices is due to an extended maintenance period at American refineries, which ran at high rates over the summer.

Delawaregasprices.com reports the cheapest place you’ll find a gallon of regular is in Dover if you pay in cash at $1.99.

Otherwise, most of the cheapest gas in the state is in New Castle County – in or around Wilmington.
