New website makes finding parks easier

Delaware Public Media

Delaware is pulling out all the stops to help get you outside this spring.

The state parks department launched a website last week that can help you find the nearest outdoor recreation area wherever you are.

"At a minimum I think it provides the public with an opportunity to discover new places they may not have ever visited before that may be just down the street or down the block,” said Bob Ehemann, a planner with the state’s Division of Parks and Recreation.

The website is called “Play Outside” and it provides information and locations of all the state’s outdoor recreation areas, including playgrounds, baseball fields and fishing piers.

It also includes detailed maps of all the state’s pedestrian, equestrian and bike trail systems.

And, it’s mobile friendly so you can track your location in real time.

Play Outside has information on any public recreation area, whether it’s managed by a city, county or state agency.

And it tells you which agency operates that particular park, which can be helpful if you want to file a complaint or compliment.
