A bomb threat was emailed to the Siegel Jewish Community Center in North Wilmington Wednesday morning, marking the fourth threat to the facility since the beginning of the year.
It comes on the heels of 15 bomb threats Tuesday targeted at Jewish organizations across the country.
Siegel JCC Executive Director Ivy Harlev said in the wake of this hatred, she’s seeing an outpouring of support.
“We have had cards and cookies and flowers sent to us. So much support has been flowing to us,” she said.
Harlev adds much of this support is coming from outside the Jewish community.
New Castle County Police arrived at the Siegel JCC around 7:45 Wednesday morning and used dogs to search the property for explosives.
Police determined there were no bombs around 9:45 am and the community center resumed normal operations shortly afterwards.
New Castle County Police said an investigation into the threat is ongoing. The department is working jointly with federal investigators to find the person who sent the bomb threat.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, there have been a total of 140 bomb threats against Jewish organizations since the beginning of the year.
On Tuesday, all 100 U.S. Senators made public a letter they had sent to President Trump urging him to take swift action to curb these threats against Jewish the community.
