October Democratic Primary Debate: Live fact-check, analysis

Twelve candidates take the stage for October's Democratic primary debate.

This is the fourth debate of the Democratic primary season.

The debate is at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio and will feature 12 candidates:

  • Former Vice President Joe Biden
  • New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker
  • South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg
  • Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro
  • Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard
  • California Sen. Kamala Harris
  • Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar
  • Former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke
  • Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders
  • Billionaire investor and activist Tom Steyer
  • Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren
  • Entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Those 12 candidates met the Democratic National Committee's criteria for inclusion, which requires candidates to register at least 2% in four early state or national polls and acquire 130,000 unique donors.

The debate, which is co-sponsored by CNN and the New York Times, begins at 8 p.m. ET.  It is being moderated by CNN anchor Erin Burnett, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and New York Times national editor Marc Lacey.
