It was another successful year for the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge.
3,602 people rushed into the Atlantic Ocean from Rehoboth Beach Sunday afternoon for 26th annual edition of the event, raising $900,000 for Special Olympics Delaware. That's a record amount of money raised in the organization's biggest fundraiser.
That was also $80,000 more dollars raised and about 100 more participants than a year ago.
The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge has now brought in over $10 million for Special Olympics Delaware in its 26-year history.
And for the record, the air temperature was 52 degrees and the water temperature was 41 degrees at the time swimmers took the plunge.
