Delaware Public Media

Delaware’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate kept steady at 4.3 percent for August.

That’s unchanged from July after a couple slight increases in the jobless rate over the summer.

As of August, nearly 21,000 people are still looking for work, while about 480,000 Delawareans remain in the labor force.

Nationwide, the unemployment rate also held at 4.9 percent last month.

State officials will soon release an economic report showing 8,200 new jobs and average pay increasing by 1.4 percent.

Sussex County saw the fastest growth rate among all counties at 4.1 percent for 2015, followed by New Castle County.

Job growth in Kent County nearly stayed flat at 0.9 percent.

The healthcare and transportation sectors outpaced all other industries, accounting for a combined 3,860 new jobs last year.
