Delaware Public Media

Delaware State University officials say three people were shot on the school’s main campus Saturday night in Dover.

School officials say the shooting took place shortly after 8pm during Field Day -an annual University-sanctioned student Greek cook-out.

All three victims were taken to Kent General Hospital and were in stable condition late Saturday night.   They have not been identified.

No arrests have been made.  The Delaware State University Police continue to investigate with assistance from the Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police and other law enforcement agencies.

Delaware State University president Harry Williams said in statement  “The safety of our students continues to be paramount and our police will aggressively continue their investigation until an arrest or arrests are made in this shooting incident.”

Students were directed to stay in their dorms and non-DSU individuals were directed off-campus.

The News Journal reports a second shooting occurred early Sunday morning around 1 am at the DSU-run University Courtyard student apartments just off the main campus.

No one was injured in the second incident and police were looking for a black man with short dreadlocks, 5-feet-9 to 5-feet-11 and wearing a tan and blue long sleeve T-shirt and white sneakers. The suspect was driving a dark colored 4-door vehicle.
