Firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and police are often the first on the scene during times of crisis.
Widener University Delaware Law School is helping first responders get important documents in order during its Wills for Heroes event this weekend.
Wills, powers of attorney and final health care directives are documents that protect people’s legal affairs.
Delaware Law professor Leslie Johnson said these documents are essential for first responders and their families.
"There are so many people who do not have the proper documentation," she said.
Delaware Law students and staff are lending their legal expertise to put these documents in order.
Johnson said the program is also open to correction, parole and probation officers.
The school hosts Wills for Heroes programs multiple times per year.
