Woods takes New Castle Co. Council special election

Delaware Public Media

Democrat Ken Woods will join New Castle County Council.

Woods easily won Tuesday’s special election to fill the vacant seat in District 1 - defeating Republican Doug Suiter by a 70 to 30 percent margin.

Turnout was a meager 3 1/2 percent, with just over 1,100  voters bothering to cast a ballot.  Woods won with 777 votes to Suiter’s 328.

Woods will replace Councilman Joseph Reda, who died last month after serving on New Castle County Council since 2004.
